Summer soundtrack and Montana Heat

This summer my family's had country music playing on a loop. It's been great! I love some of these songs and the voices that sing them...sigh...

Listening to these songs now has made me think of Jennifer Ryan who writes incredible contemporary romances filled with mystery, intrigue and some really sexy cowboys. Her latest novel, Tempted By Love, recently went on sale, so let's celebrate with a couple of songs I've totally fallen in love with :)

Ready for the week ahead

I started my bullet journal four weeks ago and during that time I've played with a few different weekly spread layouts. To begin with I took some ideas from pictures I'd seen online and used those, but little by little I started figuring out what I needed to include in my own weekly spread. Starting this week I've designed a layout that gives me more space for tasks and events on each individual day with a spot for the weather & meals, includes a monthly calendar, water tracker and shopping list.
I'm really happy with it and believe it will work well for me in the long run. Plus, there's the option to add different flowers or other design elements each week or month.

Here's my first layout:

My second layout:

This week's new and improved layout:

Do you bullet journal and if so, what's your favorite type of weekly layout and what must it include?

New Content Coming Soon

I started this blog six years ago (yikes, how time flies!) with the best of intentions. Writing weekly posts seemed like a fairly simple goal at the time, but looking back it's been a struggle between adding useful/interesting content and not knowing how much to share about the non author aspects of my life. Most advise I found online suggested sticking to a niche, which would in my case be romance novels (specifically historical ones) and subjects relating to them, like research, writing experiences, book reviews etc. The biggest problem with this is the time required to read the books and get the reviews done regularly enough when I'm also busy working on my next release + being a wife and mom. As for research posts...that's a whole other ballgame since most of those take a lot more time than simply putting down my thoughts about a novel. And then there's the whole, I'd like to talk about other stuff too, dilemma.

So what's the solution?
Well, today I stumbled across Roni Loren's blog and saw the example I'd been looking for of an author mixing all kinds of subjects together in her blog. There's stuff about music, tv shows she's watching, her device free summer etc. It gives a far better insight into the person she is while allowing her to share what she loves (besides books) with her readers.
So from now on you'll be seeing a lot more variety on my blog too, from music, to movie and t.v. show recommendations, to bujo fun, travel/vacation stories, recipes, my African bush dog, and a whole lot more. I'll also be adding an "ask me anything" option for readers which I plan to post live as part of an ongoing Q&A
Do you have other ideas? Let me know and I'll try to fit it in.

Caleb Crawford doesn’t want to be a duke. He’d much rather build houses for a living. So when fate disrupts his peaceful life and burdens him with the responsibilities of a newly inherited title, he does what any sensible man would do by fleeing London, disguising himself as a laborer, and seeking refuge with three young spinsters who need his help with a leaky roof.

Ruined by a marquess who promised her the world, Mary Clemens has sworn to avoid marriage forever. Instead, she intends to live out her days with her friends and the orphaned children they’ve taken into their care. But when Mr. Crawford comes knocking, Mary finds herself in real danger of risking heartbreak all over again. Especially when she discovers that he’s not at all what he seems.

Cover Reveal - The Infamous Duchess

The cover for the Infamous Duchess (Diamonds In The Rough #4) has finally been approved by the Avon art department, so I am no allowed to share! This was a joint effort with a lot of people pitching in to make this cover spectacular. I'm pleased to say that everyone was very willing to listen to my ideas and even went to great lengths to get the chair just right :) I couldn't be happier with the final result, which in my opinion, is absolutely perfect!

What are your thoughts?

Born to be Wilde by Eloisa James

Eloisa James writes beautifully crafted historical romances and Born to be Wilde is no exception.

Lavina Gray and Parth Sterling have been quarreling with each other for years. She finds him appalling... condescending... rude... while he considers her to be shallow. The last thing either of them want is an attachment with each other, but when Lavinia realizes that marrying Parth would save both herself and her mother from ruin, she determines to swallow her pride and propose.

Parth is completely taken aback by Lavinia's insistence they marry. He cannot for the life of him understand why she'd suggest such a preposterous thing and offers an alternative: to find her another fiancรฉ while he romances a widow. The plan seems perfect, the potential outcome less so, for the more time Parth spends in Lavinia's company, the more he realizes that he wants her for himself.

This was a wonderfully written romance. Watching the hero and heroine argue with each other in the most creative ways imaginable was thoroughly entertaining. A story to be savored and one I would highly recommend.
